Imagining a One Foot Rise issues a classic distress single, one often used for passengers on a sinking shift or people stranded on a deserted island, in this case the artist’s studio is on the sinking ship, Miami Beach. Strauss walked through streets of Miami Beach using homemade stilts and tracked her movements spelling out SOS using satellite GPS. While the stilts seemed like a successful tool for navigating a flooded area, they instead instigated experiences of trial and error, and failure inherent in our struggles for adaptation.
