{"id":63,"date":"2014-11-03T17:02:50","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T23:02:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/laurenciastrauss.com\/?p=63"},"modified":"2015-09-05T17:55:18","modified_gmt":"2015-09-05T22:55:18","slug":"63","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/laurenciastrauss.com\/?p=63","title":{"rendered":"Unruly Engagements at the Cleveland Art Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In November 2014, Maura Pellettieri and I presented the project <em><strong>Impossible Wants<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/cia.edu\/academics\/community-works\/unruly-engagements-conference\/conference-program\"><strong>Socially Engaged Art and the Public Sphere<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cia.edu\/academics\/community-works\/unruly-engagements-conference\/overview\"><strong>Unruly Engagements: On the Social Turn in Contemporary Art and Design<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cleveland Institute of Art held\u00a0an international conference for academic, curatorial, and independent scholars as well as practicing artists and designers. Unruly Engagements featured Shannon Jackson as keynote speaker.<\/p>\n<p>This interdisciplinary conference examined various approaches to social practices in both art and design in an effort to understand the concepts, terms, and varieties of engagement of the past two decades or so.
